English tuition for students of Pratom 6, a group of police-border schools in Pakchom district, Loei province
Problems of small sized schools in remote areas (primary education level) are considered similarity in common. Number of teachers are not matched and sufficient to all classrooms. Teacher who teaches English is not completed education of English language teaching but other subjects e.g. math, science or physical education. Moreover, teacher to teach English is not the same person in each class but rotating another new person. Such uncertainty of teaching duty is effect to quality of learning as well as its continuity and creativity.
Under the project of Teach Thai Students (TTS), FCYD Foundation has arranged a special tuition of English language for students of Pratom 6 (grade 6) of a group of police-border schools in Pakchom district, Loei province. There are 52 students from 4 schools to participate. The tuition is to educate them to understand ONET (Ordinary National Education Test) and its test process including how to prepare and get ready for the test. Schools to participate includes;
Mentors of the tuition are senior students of Ratchapat Udornthani University. It is not only technical issues to give them English knowledge but also fun games with many gifts to let them realize ‘why to learn English’.
